Spotlight Interviews!

Here I will be interviewing female leaders in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and posting them here either through text or video! Stay tuned! 

Marina D'souza

Marina D'souza received a BS degree in Environmental Engineering along with a minor in Materials Science and Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, USA. While completing her degree, she had the opportunity to complete co-ops at 4 different insitutitons. Marina D'souza also served as president of the American Society of Civil Engineers - Drexel chapter for 2 years. She is incredibly passionate about water research and have been involved with projects relating to contaminant removal from water and wastewater.

Krystina Pearson-Rampeearee

Krystina is a Chartered Engineer in Liverpool working as a Senior Flight Systems Engineer. She studied Aerospace Systems Engineering at university, after being inspired by an airshow when she was in school, and became the first engineer in her family. As a Flight Systems Engineer, she am involved in the whole life of equipment within a system; from development, to going on aircraft, to support once in service. A Flight Systems Engineer role is a collaborative, multidisciplinary role and she enjoys all the different aspects that she gets to be involved in. She volunteers as a STEM Ambassador and mentor and also set up her own business, AviateHer, selling accessories to promote diversity in STEM. As there was a lack of visible females when she was studying and early on in my career, she is passionate about encouraging and inspiring more young girls to consider STEM careers and push past those gender stereotypes!

Danielle Schroeder

Danielle Schroeder received a BS degree in Civil Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, USA in 2017. While completing her degree, she had the opportunity to land co-ops and internships. She was involved in the Society of Women Engineers throughout her five years of school. She currently works in the transportation industry where she specializes in bridge retrofits, reconstruction, and other transportation related structures.

Sandra Klemet-N'Guessan

Sandra Klemet-N'Geussan is a PhD candidate in the Xenopoulos lab, studying the role that aquatic animals play in the cycling of nutrients in lakes and streams. She studied at McGill Univeristy with a Bachelor in Science in Biology, She is now pursuing a Doctorate of Philosophy Environmental and Life Sciences at Trent University. She has done research in 6 countries, across 3 continents. She believes in cultivating values that bring people together to build stronger communities.

Danyka Byrnes

Danyka Byrnes is pursuing a PhD at the University of Waterloo. She studied Environmental Engineering for her undergraduate degree. She then specialized in water resources in graduate school, focusing on the hydrology and biogeochemistry of human-impacted systems. Her future goals include working at a 
University institution. She sees herself in a research and teaching type of role.
